Spike TV’s Scream Awards 2011 to honor Pee-wee Herman
On Saturday night, Paul Reubens will be given the Visionary Award at Spike TV’s Scream Awards 2011 ceremony in Los Angeles.
Reubens will be given the special award for the many ways he has entertained audiences as Pee-wee Herman since his introduction of the character in 1978. Said Reubens in the announcement, “If Pee-wee were giving this quote, I think he’d scream out ‘I’m a visionary! I’m a visionary!’ and then run to the dictionary to look up what visionary means. But I know what it means, and I am profoundly grateful and honored …”
Pee-wee Herman is coming to Comic-Con.
The character, embodied by actor Paul Reubens, will hit Hall H Thursday, July 21 for a solo panel starting 1:15 p.m.
Herman/Reubens will be there in support of The Pee-Wee Herman Show on Broadway, which comes to DVD in October from Image Entertainment. The HBO production garnered an Emmy nomination last week.
